Dr. Michael Baumholtz, affectionately known as Dr. B, is a highly respected Board-Certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, with a focus on Aesthetic Surgery in San Antonio, TX. With years of dedication to the craft, Dr. Baumholtz has earned a reputation for his expert approach to enhancing natural beauty, offering a wide range of cosmetic procedures tailored to meet the individual needs of his patients.

His impressive training spans General Surgery, Hand and Microsurgery, and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, leading him to achieve Board Certification in both General Surgery and Plastic Surgery. Hailing from Philadelphia, Dr. Baumholtz holds a B.A. in English from Kenyon College, an M.S. from Thomas Jefferson University, and earned his M.D. from Jefferson Medical College. He completed his General Surgery residency at York Hospital, followed by a Hand and Microsurgery Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. His journey continued with a Plastic and Reconstructive residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, where he honed his expertise in Aesthetic Surgery for both adults and children.

With a passion for excellence, Dr. Baumholtz returned to Philadelphia to serve as an Associate Professor and staff surgeon at Temple University Hospital, and later became the Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Shriners Hospital for Children. In 2013, Texas called him back, and he reestablished himself in San Antonio, where he’s served on staff at notable institutions like CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System and Audie L. Murphy Veterans’ Hospital. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Surgery at UTHSCSA, contributing his expertise to the Plastic Surgery Fellowship Program.

Dr. Baumholtz‘s influence extends beyond the operating room through his involvement in professional organizations like the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS), Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons (TSPS), and the Bexar County Medical Society. Since 2017, he has served as a guest examiner for the Certifying Examination in Plastic Surgery (American Board of Plastic Surgeons). He has shared his knowledge extensively through lectures, publications, and presentations at regional, national, and international meetings, particularly focusing on Aesthetic Surgery.

Beyond his clinical accomplishments, Dr. Baumholtz is passionate about giving back to the community and shaping the future of Aesthetic Surgery. As Division Chief of Plastic Surgery at the Audie L. Murphy Veterans’ Hospital, he plays an instrumental role in educating future surgeons. His leadership extends to his roles as a board examiner, President of the San Antonio International Plastic Surgery Society, and Awards Committee Chair for the Texas Society of Plastic Surgery.
