Dr Brett Carlin MD
As a board-certified, South Carolina plastic surgeon, Dr C. Brett Carlin has been practicing state-of-the-art cosmetic plastic surgery in Columbia since 1998. His practice is limited to aesthetic surgery of the face, breast, and body, as well as reconstructive surgery of the face and breast for defects incurred due to cancer.
By narrowing his practice in scope, he can offer his patients truly superior care and expertise. “Our speciality encompasses a very broad spectrum. If you only do a few cases of a specific procedure each year, you never really gain meaningful experience or expertise with it. It is hard to proficient in all aspects of plastic surgery. Find what you do well and become the best you can be at it.”
Dr. C. Brett Carlin practices aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery in Columbia, South Carolina with more than 20 years of experience. He has completed residencies in both General Surgery, as well as Plastic Surgery.
He successfully received Board Certification from the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery, representing one of the few surgeons to posses dual board certification. He has subsequently completed re-certification through the American Board of Plastic Surgery, to ensure he remains current with emerging techniques and technology.
Dr. Carlin spent his childhood years in Columbia. He graduated with honors, a Cum Laude degree in Chemistry, from Clemson University. He spent the next four years at The Medical University of South Carolina, in Charleston. His General Surgery residency took him to Birmingham, Alabama for five long years, including a year as Chief Resident.
He left Alabama for North Carolina, where he completed a three year Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery fellowship at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC, again serving one year as Chief Resident in Plastic Surgery. Integrated into these eight post-graduate years was a fellowship at the prestigious Christine Kleinert Institute for Hand and Microsurgery in Louisville, KY.
He and his wife, Liz, married while in Charleston. They have enjoyed raising their only child, Drew, here in the Midlands. In addition to tending to his family’s equestrian interests, he enjoys spending time outdoors, hunting and fishing whenever he can get away.
